The New iPhone 4 Featuring The New A4 Processor

It is widely accepted that the Apple iPhone 3GS was the best mobile phone available thanks to gorgeous looks, superb features and a vast array of applications available for download.

There is a new contender for this crown however, with its new big brother, the iPhone 4 totally eclipsing the previous version and causing a stir amongst all mobile phone fans. A quick flick through the specification for the iPhone 4, and one thing that immediately jumps of the page is the incredible statistics that the new display offers. Resolution is the first thing that many people look at, and the 960 x 640 that is on offer is undoubtedly impressive, but there is more to the screen than just the resolution. An 800:1 contrast ratio mean the screen displays a massive amount of colours. Thanks to Apple utilising In Plane Switching (IPS) screen technologies, black colours now appear black rather than dark grey, and viewing angles are also greatly increased. The iPhone 4 screen is 3.5", however boasts 78% of the pixels shown on Apples other big release, the iPad, despite the screen being nearly 70% smaller. All this change however does not been some of the more loved features found on previous models have been forgotten. Thanks to multi touch the great pinch and zoom facility remains. With such a great touchscreen, there is always a danger of accidentally pressing button when the phone is held to your face. Apple continue to fit a proximity sensor behind the screen, locking it when it is held near to your face. Of course the old favourite accelerometer chip is also still featured, cleverly adjusting your screen according to the position of the phone. They Apple iPad received many plaudits upon its release, thanks in part to the speed at which it handled everyday functions.

The manufacturer attributed this to the new A4 processor chip they fitted. Thus it seems a wise move to fit the same chip in the new iPhone 4. It would have been easy for the new multi tasking features to slow the operation of the phone down, but it seems quicker than ever. Apps loads quickly with minimal waiting times, and the higher processor power means games can become more advanced. There are also subtle differences that are not instantly noticable, but none the less very worthwhile. Shutter speed on the camera is quicker, meaning less time betwen clicking the button and the phone actually capturing the shot. Not only has the processor been improved, but RAM memory has also seen an increase to 512MB. An improved battery is fitted in the iPhone 4, which coupled with the A4's better power management means users benefit from a 25% improvement in battery life over the iPhone 3GS The iPhone 4 has seen some major changes, but it is perhaps some of the smaller one which impress most about this phone. Improved battery, multi tasking and the general speed of operation make using the phone a real pleasure. When not in use however, the phone still wows with its sleek and stylish new look.
